Answering Val's Question

Welcome, Val! It's great to have you here too.

In answer to the question you posed via a comment on the "We're Launched" post, YES, anyone can read our blog and they can make comments. ONLY the seven of us can actually post an entry - graphic or text. Is that a problem? Do we need more privacy? We always have the option of emailing any material we don't want posted. Are you thinking about photos of homes that might not be comfortable appearing so broadly? Or questions that we might want to keep to ourselves?

We can remove our blog from this site so people won't scroll through and find it easily, but it will always be on the Internet. If someone knew the URL, they could find it. We could make that difficult by having a URL that was totally random, like "djhgoloahvjkvz ". But if we pass it around to our familiies and friends, there could be a readership beyond ourselves.

In my experience of blogging over two years, no strangers have intruded in any way. I have heard of a blog that did cause a sensation, however, when it showed photos of some people (waaaaaaay in the background) who didn't like the blogger's take on a particular situation, even though no direct reference was made to them.

You raise a good point, Val. My suggestion is to remove the access from "Blogger.com" if anyone of us objects to this kind of access. Secondly, that we each be very aware of what we post as opposed to what we send via group email. And maybe we want to develop some guidelines in advance so we don't create a problem in the first place.

What do others think?
